Overview

This is a project I made in 48 hours in a team of 3 people (with one other designer and one programmer) for Nordic Game Jam 2026, which had the theme: "nothing". The game is a fast paced platformer with shooter elements. The player has to get a highscore by shooting targets and jumping from platform to platform to stay above the surface of the black sea and survive the longest they can. We divided the project into two levels: arena mode and more linear "puzzle" mode. In both cases the player has to figure out the best path to getting the highest score, whereas the former makes it more chaotic and unpredictible.

Role and Contributions

I took on the level designer role, as well as an artist. I provided the other designer with sketches for 3D asset creation, and created the whole arena mode level with chaotic (yet still thoughtful) and abundant layout. I designed the arena layout with many possible routes and hence replay value. I supported the programmer with some tech art, mainly the skybox and shader for the sea. I also learned how to make a texture atlas for the first time, and made two atlasses for all the assets in the game, while learning more about the UV maps and placement of the textures. Finally, I also produced a minimalistic unnverving ambience for the background.
